That is actually how this book started.  It was originally a project for me to write down my complete nutrition strategy for my clients.  After finishing the project, it occurred to me that many other people could benefit from the simplicity of this program.

About three weeks before starting a challenge I made major changes in my diet. I was inspired by a friend’s son who lost a significant amount of weight by eating lean meats, vegetables and fruits and exercising. I realized I had to make lifelong modifications or I was never going to meet my goal. Justin offered a nutrition workshop during the first few weeks of my membership which solidified the major changes I had made. I finally felt like I was on the right track. Justin shared this quote one day during class; “Losing weight is easy once you accept what you have to do”. True story, except as the e-card forwarded by Lisa said, “I am not losing weight; I am getting rid of it. I have no intention of finding it again.”
From the first day of the challenge, I introduced myself as “Hey! I am Marcia, the winner of the 6-week Summer Slim Down Challenge”. It was not from a place of conceit or even true confidence. It was from a much deeper locality. I was determined and I was committed, but not just for myself. I had a plan of what to do with the money if I won. I was going to give away in memory of my late-husband, Tim.
With great purpose, consistent hard work at the gym, and complete change in my eating habits, I met every day of the challenge and beyond. I have gotten rid of nearly 30 pounds, dropped 4 pants sizes and am stronger than I have been in years. When I started this new fitness chapter in my life and my new goals of getting back into competitive fighting, I had a good idea about the impact of the importance of a good diet.  Little did I know though just how much more I had to learn.  Like allot of the new training techniques I was introduced to I was skeptical about the outcome.  Justin and I spent allot of time discussing the importance of keeping a clean diet and making sure I ate plenty!!! My biggest hurdle with my diet was I wasn’t eating enough and it would stop my progress on the scale.  Making sure that I hit my high calorie and carb days were the key.  I weighed myself everyday for a month to track progress The only days I ever dropped weight was the day after my high calorie day every week like clockwork and maintained the rest of the week.  I took allot from seeing this and opened my eyes even more to the nutrition side of creating a better me.  Doesn’t matter how many workouts I put in a day or how intense they are if there isn’t a great diet plan to support it, your doing allot of work for very little results.

I read through it this week and really enjoyed it. His tone is conversational and fun to read.
