About three weeks before starting a challenge I made major changes in
my diet. I was inspired by a friend’s son who lost a significant amount
of weight by eating lean meats, vegetables and fruits and exercising. I
realized I had to make lifelong modifications or I was never going to
meet my goal. Justin offered a nutrition workshop during the first few
weeks of my membership which solidified the major changes I had made. I
finally felt like I was on the right track. Justin shared this quote one
day during class; “Losing weight is easy once you accept what you have
to do”. True story, except as the e-card forwarded by Lisa said, “I am
not losing weight; I am getting rid of it. I have no intention of
finding it again.”
From the first day of the challenge, I introduced myself as
“Hey! I am Marcia, the winner of the 6-week Summer Slim Down
Challenge”. It was not from a place of conceit or even true confidence.
It was from a much deeper locality. I was determined and I was
committed, but not just for myself. I had a plan of what to do with the
money if I won. I was going to give away in memory of my late-husband,
Tim.
With great purpose, consistent hard work at the gym, and
complete change in my eating habits, I met every day of the challenge
and beyond. I have gotten rid of nearly 30 pounds, dropped 4 pants sizes
and am stronger than I have been in years. I am very excited about my
new lifestyle and in a few short days, I am participating in my first
triathlon. I still have a long way to go to reach my final weight/health
goal, but I feel like I have taken many baby steps and without all of
the help and support, I would never have gotten this far. Now on to the
next challenge!! All I can say is BRING IT!
